Wonder

Wonder Work Part 4
  1. Part 4 starts with the quote "Now here is my secret. It is very simple. It is only with one's heart that one can see clearly. What is essential is invisible to the eye." What does it mean? It means that what on the outside is important but whats on the inside is even more important.
  2. What was Jack's initial reaction to Mr Tushman's request to show August around school? What made Jack decide to say 'yes' to Mr Tushman’s request? His mom said it if you do it will be a really kind and caring thing to do.
  3. Friendship can be difficult. How does Jack feel about him and August becoming Ex-friends? How does he feel when he finds out why? Guilty and sad, when he finds out he feels even more guilty and sorry.
  4. How was Jack provoked to punch Julian in the face? Explain why you think this was the right/wrong thing to do? Because he said
  5. How did reading Jack's point of view change your perception of his character?
  6. Predict how you think Auggie will react to the news that Jack punched Julian. What effect will it have own their friendship?
  7. Discuss the motivations for Julian's mum to photoshop August out of the class photo and it’s the message it sends to Julian.
  8. What do you make of Mrs Albans' statement that August is handicapped? Do you think she was correct when she said it places too much of a burden on the kids to befriend August?
  9. Mrs Alban also thought that August shouldn't have been allowed into Beecher Prep. Do you agree or disagree? Explain.
  10. How did Jack handle being frozen out by all the boys at Beecher Prep?

1.)This quote means what on the outside is important, but not as important as what's on the inside. In-depth if you want to find out what on the inside use your emotions.

2.)This quote means what on the outside is important, but not as important as what's on the inside. In-depth if you want to find out what on the inside use your emotions.

3.)I think Jack feels bad because August and Jack were actually really good friends and they had the same interests and would get along just fine. Personally, Jack tries to ignore the feelings for August and move on but I think he still wants to be friends with August.

4.)What provoked him to punch Julian was him saying stuff about his disease, that he has no friends and what Julian would do if he looked like August. I think Jack had enough and cared that much about August that he punched him in the face.

5.) I saw that he was really wanting to be friends with August and that even though they weren't talking Jack was still missing August as a friend. So yes it did change my perception.
6.)Hearing this August will be shocked and satisfied because I know August hates Julian. This is a good effect on their relationship because August will realize that Jack might not be as bad as he thinks and they probably will become friends again.
