Duties are the reason which requires something important or a task that must fulfil. In the book of Children of Blood and Bones by Tomi Adeyemi, Inan chooses duty over himself, he chooses to destroy magic than saving magic and his love. The chapter that I'm gonna write about is chapter 36, 9 and 85. Tomi Adeyemi wrote this book so that readers can understand that we need to make our decisions carefully.
In Chapter 36, before Inan and Zelie battle, Amari tries to convince Inan to make his choices. Inan ordered by his father That his duty is to keep the Orisha alive rather than bringing the magic back. When we have this problem we need to believe that we must make a similar choice between our duty or ourselves. In Chapter 36-Zelie, Amari told Inan "Those are father's words, Inan. His decision, not yours. We are on our own people. " meaning that we need to make our own decision, not theirs so that Inan can understand his situation. The Author wrote this chapter so that people can understand that we need to choose our own decision, not theirs.
In Chapter 9, when Zelie tries to fight back for the Orisha, a small thought of whispers in her head told her that she doesn't have to continue her duty to fight for the Orisha but in the end, they save the magic and the Orisha. In Zelie's quote " I hold onto the words for a moment, grasping my only chance to escape. But when my lungs wheeze, I force to kick, bringing me back my broken world I know". Tomi wrote this chapter so the reader can understand that no matter how much we crave peace, we still need to stand up even though it's difficult.
In Chapter 85, when Zelie meet Baba in another world, Zelie doesn't want to go back to the real world because she can't survive the pain in the real world. "Zel orisha still needs you". Baba told Zelie that Orisha still needs her help. In real life, sometimes we need to leave our loved ones because of our duty. For example, our parents, they tried hard so we can achieve our dreams, feed us and take care of us. In this scene, the writer wrote this chapter so that people can understand that sometimes we have to choose duty instead of our loved ones so that we can take care of them.
The Children of Blood and Bones is an interesting story because it has a lot of moral lessons. Inan and Zelie have different choices. Inan shows that he chooses to destroy the magic and Zelie chooses to save the magic. The Children of Blood and Bones story helps the readers to understand and what to do if they have a situation like this.
Great work so far, Alliah!
ReplyDeleteOnce you've picked a topic for your third paragraph, you should add an "outline" to the end of your introduction. (This is where you mention the scenes you are going to talk about)
I'm glad to see you finished your essay!
ReplyDeleteYour writing is organized into paragraphs. You have explained your ideas clearly as well as providing quotes from the book and the author's purpose.
The next step would be to add some LINKS during your paragraphs. Connect your ideas to another story / real life experiences.
