Model of a Lung

Aim: I want to create a model of a lung

Equipment: Plastic cup, straw, balloon, an elastic band or hair tie. This is all the list need to make a model of a lung.

Method:
1.)make a hole at the cup's bottom
2.)Put the balloon on the 2 straw
3.) Then put it inside the cup and out the sprout of the cup
4.) Take another balloon and cut the top of it off
5.) Then put this balloon on the bottom of the cup so that it covers the opening.
6.) Apply elastic band or something that will keep the air from going inside through the cup (to me I would recommend you to use hot glue )
7.)To work the model, pull the bottom balloon. You can see the lungs grow bigger, this is how your lungs work.

Discussion:
What are the Lungs?
is a pair of organs situated within the ribcage. The ribcage protect your lungs and your heart, your ribs also move when you breathe in and out. The left lung is smaller than the right lung because it has to make a room for your heart. Below your lungs are the diaphragm, the diaphragm is a muscle that works with your lungs to breathe in and out.

What do lungs do?
Air wooshes to your nose and mouth through your trachea and divides into left and a right tube called bronchi which connect to the lungs. Within the lungs, the bronchi branch into smaller bronchi and even smaller tubes called bronchioles which are as thin as a strand of hair, end in tiny air sacs called alveoli. The air you breathe in fills these sacks, causing the lungs to inflate, at this point the capillaries are packed with carbon dioxide, and air sacks are full of oxygen. In the process called diffusion, each gas wants to move a place where there's a lower of their kind so the oxygen crosses over the capillaries the hemoglobin grabs it up while carbon dioxide is unloaded into the lungs, hemoglobin is a protein inside the red blood cells that carries oxygen to cells and carbon dioxide. Then the oxygen is transported throughout the body and then we exhaled the carbon dioxide causing our diaphragm to relax and the volume of the lungs gets smaller.

The process of diffusion
the molecules of each gas want to move to a place where there's a lower
of their kind. So oxygen cross over to the capillaries, the hemoglobin grab
it's up while the carbon dioxide is unloaded into the lungs. The oxygen-rich to the hemoglobin
is then transported throughout the body via the bloodstream and then we exhale the carbon dioxide.

Fun facts about Lungs
1.) Lungs can float on the water
2.) Lungs aren't the same size
3.) Lungs and tennis court can be the same size
4.) An average person can breathe in 11,000 litres of air a day
5.) Without mucus, your lungs will dry up

Evaluation:
This is my complete Lung model, I am proud of what I did, but next time I'm gonna use strong equipment that can support my model. I should've used hot glue for the straw because the straw wouldn't let in the right position. If you were to create my model I would recommend you to use a plastic bottle because it's much stronger than the plastic cup, use a hot glue gun instead of a rubber band or hair tie and I would recommend fixing the mistakes I made. I enjoyed making this model and it only takes 20-30 minutes to finish. If I want to learn more about the Lungs, I want to extract from the Pig and investigate it.

What am I learning?
I learned how to make a model of a Lung and how does lung work
I am wondering?
I'm wondering if you can drown inside and out.

English Essay

A character who changed in the Zootopia is Nick when he meets Judy in the Zootopia. Nick changed from bad to good because when chief Bogo ask Judy for a badge Nick stands up for Judy because Judy saves his life.

Nick began as a Junior Ranger scout even he was the only predator in the troop but he got bullied by his troops. This is because when Nick promised to be brave, Loyal, helpful, and trustworthy to his troops. Nick told Judy that he learned two things that day that he was never gonna let everyone see that they got to him and if the world's only gonna see a fox and shifty and untrustworthy. Judy said " Nick, you are so much more than that", this helps the audience to realize when someone is having a hard time, there's one friend that can help you solve your life problem.

In the middle of the film where Judy was answering questions to the reporters and Nick is being irrational after Judy's speech. This is because Judy said to the reporters that predators may go back to their savage ways. We can see that Nick is upset and confused, she asked Judy if she's afraid of him or does she thinks he might go nuts. I think, in this scene, we know that Judy has a right to be protective but we also have to think before we speak to others so that they can understand.

At the end of the film, Judy and Nick solve the case and Nick became a part of ZPD. This is because of not giving up and how we should understand each other. Judy made a speech said, " real life is messy, we all make mistakes, and the more we understand one another, the more exceptional into us will be".  I think the director wanted us to understand that we should not give up our hopes and we should try to make our world a better place.

Nick was different at first but he changed when she meets Judy. They help each other to reach their goal and solves their problems. I think the creators made this movie that everyone is represented as both predators and preys that shows not everyone is what you think what they are.

DTE- How has tech changed the way you communicate

In this lesson, we create an infographic about ergonomics, we explore a web-based game called Interland, and in our last lesson did Digital bytes.

ergonomic is a process of designing and or optimized them for human use. It improves workspaces and environments to minimise the risks of injuries.

What I learned about Inter land is that they provide cybersafety education and awareness for children, for young people and also parents.

The last thing we did is digital bytes, first, we choose some media to engage with and then we answer the questions in our google doc. The digital bytes is about how you can explore and influence the world we live in.

Science-Genetically modified animal

Aim: making a GMO animal example using a clay

What is GMO?
A GMO or genetically modified organism is a plant, animal, microorganism or other organisms whose genetic makeup has been modified in a laboratory using genetic engineering or transgenic technology.  Genetically modified animals are animals that are genetically modified for a specific variation of purposes including drugs, enhancing field, increase resistance to disease and etc.

Processing
The process of genetically engineered animal or plant is a slow, boring time consuming, and expensive process. First, genetic engineers must to set apart or cut off the gene they want to insert it to the organism. This can be taken from cell, gene, or Artificial genes synthesis known as DNA printing (a method that is used to create artificial genes in the laboratory). If the gene or the donor organism genome(the genetic material of the organism) has been studied it will be may accessible from a genetic library. The genetic library is a collection of DNA fragments that are stored and breed specimens of a plant or animal. There are two types of genetic library, cDNA library and Genomic library.

cDNA library represents a collection of only the only genes that are encoded or convert into proteins by an organism. A Genomic library is a collection is a set of DNA clones that contains the entire DNA content of a genome fro which library was obtained or received.

Then the gene is then combined with other gene elements like promoter, terminator and selectable marker. The promoter is a sequence of DNA needed to turn a gene on or off. Terminator is a genetic part that usually occurs at the end of the gene and causes transcription(first several steps in gene expression) to stop. A selectable marker is a gene introduced into a cell that confers a trait suitable for selective breeding.

Equipment: Clay (any colours)
Method of making a glofish out of clay
1. Get clay.
2. Shaping the clay into an animal
3. Do detail on the clay model.
4. Leave the clay model to dry.
5. Done.

Here is an example of a GMO animal called GlowFish. GloFish is a patented brand of genetically modified zebrafish with bright fluorescent colours, it was created to show of presence of toxins in the water and it was the first genetically modified animal.

GMO is the result of the process from the GMO of one species that is extracted and forced into a gene of an unrelated plant or animal. The example of a GMO animal is GloFish, a scientist split a gene from a jellyfish and add it to a fish DNA to make it Glow. DNA is a  The reason why they are doing this because they were trying to develop a fish that could detect pollution.

Evaluation:
Here is my completed work. I am proud of my work but I think I should make it more pretty or creative. If you want to make a model of an animal using clay, I would recommend you to use a wire to make it more stand out. I would also recommend you to use colourful clay and sculpt it using scissors. If I want to learn more about the Genetically modified organism, I'm gonna research about more GMO like plants.

Health

Why is the value important to you?
value is important because it helps us to grow and develop also it guide our actions and help us gain influence among those people we love and respect.

What could you start doing to better support this value?
I should find ways to help out with my personal issues and I will make sure what I'm doing is right.

We have been learning about spiritual well-being, values, relationships, culture and our personal identity. This is really important to me because it helps me to know who I really am, it also helps to grow and develop our learning and about my issues. In our culture, we celebrate Christmas and lots of festivals, we also celebrate birthdays and new years. I have been also learning about personal Identity it helps me to bring comfort and security.

Horror camping trip

You and your friends decided to go camping near the river. You were driving and found a perfect spot for your camping trip nearly 100 meters away from the river. Late that evening, one of your friends tell a story of a mysterious girl that hunts people at night while setting your camp. Along ago, there's a girl name Belladonna committed suicide because of depression and then the next day Belladonna's friend saw her near the river stabbing his boyfriend 10 times in his heart. Before she died, the doctor was trying to fix her but they couldn't they said she will never be a normal person or live a normal life and as she grew older she was bullied by her classmates every day because she was strange to them that's why she committed suicide at the river. Suddenly, your friend stop talking because we heard something behind the tree. It's a girl, smiling at us creepily.
