Treaty of Waitangi-Social Studies

 Introduction
In 1830 there were 100k  Māori and 100 Europeans living in New Zealand. The behaviour of the Whalers, the Missionaries’ desire to help protect Māori rights and the Musket Wars were reasons that a treaty was needed. The Declaration of Independence was another contributing factor to the need for a treaty.

Paragraph One (Lawyer)
One reason that a treaty was needed was the lawless behaviour of some of the British Settlers like whalers. Around the 1830s in New Zealand, whalers were from many countries including America, France and Australia but the majority came from Britain. When they’re back in the shore, many from different boats, there were some serious drinking, fights, and common disease and it became known as the hellhole of the pacific. Between 1830 and 1840s, whalers needed the protection and permission from Maori to live and work.

Paragraph Two (Lawyer)
Another reason that a treaty was needed was to protect Māori rights. One group that felt strongly about this was the missionaries. In the early decades of the 19th-century British protestant and French catholic missionaries came to New Zealand to help Maori people. The first conversion of Maori to Christianity didn’t happen until 15 years after the missionaries arrived. The missionaries introduced Maori people writing, reading and some technologies. He missionaries were concerned about the Maori being killed by the musket war and they are were also concerned about the violent behaviour of the sailors spreading the prostitution and disease. These were the reasons the missionaries supported the treaty and they encouraged the Maori to sign the treaty.

Paragraph Three (Hammer)
Another reason that a treaty was needed was the Musket Wars. When the European people arrived in New Zealand, Maori people fought their war with their traditional weapons, fierce enough the introduction of the musket through New Zealand. The musket weapon gave the tribes a huge advantage over their enemies. Tribes without muskets, they were forced to seek trade with Europeans exchanges with foods or animals.  They believed that the power of the musket was killed over 20 000 people in New Zealand. As a result in the 1830s, all tribes had muskets and military balance of power was starting to occur, the population had shifted, the introduction of New Zealand change forever.

Paragraph Four (The Slam Dunk)
The final reason that a treaty was needed was the existence of the Declaration of Independence. The reason why the treaty was needed is that the purpose of the treaty was to enable the British Settlers and the Maori people to live together in peace under a common set of laws or agreements. In 1840, More than 40 chiefs signed the Treaty of Waitangi. When the settlers arrived in New Zealand, they took most of the land illegally from Maori but the treaty of Waitangi gives the Maori the right to own their lands causing wars, fighting between the tribe, and chaos. Also in 1845, when the first New Zealand governor replaced the Maori flag into the United Kingdom flag, the Maori cut down the flag pole and caused a New Zealand war. This is why the treaty was needed to make an agreement and to stop fighting between the tribe.

Conclusion (Robust Conclusion)
In conclusion, a treaty was needed because of the treaty of Waitangi aimed to protect the rights of Maori to keep their lands, protecting their origins and freedom. The main reason is when the Europeans arrived in New Zealand, a lot of chaos happened like whalers were from many countries turned the land into a hellhole of the pacific and the Maori population decreased because of the musket war. When the missionaries came to New Zealand, they helped Maori people about their problems and they encouraged the Maori to sign the treaty. With no treaty, there will be no freedom, safety and love in New Zealand.

Volcano-Science

Aim: I'm gonna make a model of a volcano
Equipment: Clay (light brown), empty tissue roll, ice cream container lid/carton, glue, fake grass
Method:
1. First place the tissue roll the ice cream container lid
2. Start building up layers with clay around the roll.
3. Add more clay until you have formed a mound around the tissue roll.
4. Leave it to dry for 3 to 4 days
5. Use glue and add fake grass.
6. Done

Discussion:
Volcanoes are the most explosive landforms. A volcano is an opening of the Earth's crust through which is lava, volcanic ash, and gases escape high into the atmosphere. Active volcanoes are erupting volcanoes that are going to erupt soon and Dormant volcanoes is an active volcano that is not erupting but supposed to erupt again. Volcanoes mostly occur along with destructive and constructive plate boundaries where plates are pushed together or drag apart. How are volcanoes formed( Plate tectonics)? The Earth's crust is composed of sections of rocks which are called tectonic plates. The Tectonic plates resemble puzzle pieces which move constantly against each other. What causes these plates to move? The mantle near the core is much hotter the mantle near the crust, the temperature set up convection currents which causes the movement of the plates. The friction created two plates by the constant movements melts the Earth's crust causing the rock beneath the crust turns to magma due to the great temperature created by friction. The molten hot rock or magma creates pressure, and over time it finds its way through fault or cracks plate. When the magma reaches into the earth's surface it is called magma. 1500 volcanoes around the world are considered as active, nearly 90% lies in the ring of fire, which is a ring of oceanic volcanoes circling the ocean. Most divergent plate boundaries lie in the bottom of the oceans. That is why most volcanic activity occurs in the ocean. Volcanoes may be also formed at subduction zones. Subduction is a place where two plates, one oceanic plate and one continental plate collide. At a subduction zone, an oceanic plate submerges under a continental plate, creating a magma. When it reaches the surface, it forms a volcano.
Parts of Volcano

Types of Volcanoes
Cinder Cone volcano
- The Cinder Cone volcano is the simplest type of volcano. They occur when particles and blob of lava are ejected from a volcano vent. a Vent is the opening of a volcano which lava flows.

Composite volcano
- Composite volcano or tall conical volcano has a conduit system inside them that channels magma from deep within the Earth to the surface. It can grow thousands of meters tall and can explode violently.

Shield volcano
- Shield volcanoes are large and broad that looks like shields from above. The lava that pours out of shield volcano is thin, it can travel for a distance down the shallow slopes of the volcano. This volcano builds up slowly over time, with hundreds of eruptions, creating many layers. Also, they're not likely to explode catastrophically.

Lava domes
Lava Domes are created by small masses of lava which are too viscous(thick) to flow very far. The magma from the volcanic domes pile up over and around the vents

                                                              Evaluation:
Here is my completed model and I am proud of what I did. I didn't use a tissue roll because I don't have any enough clay to use for my volcano model so I use my old lip balm lid, it's small but it's useful. Also, It would be so much better if I use the ice cream container lid instead of carton. For the fake grass, I use paper instead of plastic grass. So if you don't have a fake grass I would recommend you to use a paper and coloured it into the green. I enjoyed making this because it only takes 20 min to make. If I want to learn more about the volcano, I'm going to research more about volcanoes like "what happened if the volcano erupts or research about geysers.

Aswang

Look, I will find the demon and kill him.

If you're reading this story, you might be horrified. Do you like the place where you live? Because I don't. Hi, my name is Ling and I am 14 years old. Sometimes when I go out in the morning or the evening, I smell blood and rotten flesh. The grandparents in my village share their stories with their grandchildren about Aswang that devouring humans to gain their powers and strength. And they said it started a thousand years ago.  There are two types of Aswang. One uses they're only strength and the other uses a power also called blood techniques. There is a lot of abilities and unique skills for Aswang. Only higher Aswang can use high power abilities. Some Aswangs are like witches that use witchcraft to cast a spell or curse on humans. We don't know if they are true.
The day after in the morning after I prepared breakfast for my family, I went to mom to ask her permission.
"Mom, can I go out to sale some fish and help people in our village for tomorrow night supper?". I ask.

"Thank you, Ling, just make sure you come back before sunset."
"I'll try Mom". My younger brother Chou and my younger sister Hanabi heard our conversation. They immediately came over to us if they can go as well. "Sorry guys, you can't. You have stayed so you take care of mom and our little sister Miya. If only our father is here, you can come with me.
"How sad, we can't go". Said Chou with a down face.
"Don't worry I'll be back home, don't be sad, you look like a pig if you're sad" I teased. "You're a bully," he started yelling.

9 hours later, while I was walking back to my home, I smell blood and a different scent of smell. "That smell..., it smells like my family". I say with a shaking voice. I immediately ran fast to my home without taking a breath. " Be calm Ling ". I say to myself. I don't know what's happening and I'm really scared. The more I'm closer to my home, the more I smell the scent of demon blood. Finally, I got home. I cried with anger and anxiety.

Non-newtonian fluid

Quicksand is an interesting material. In can act as solid or liquid. Quicksand is a soupy fluid made up of sand or earth and often water. If forms when something causes sand, earth, clay to have reduced friction and fluid-like properties. Typically it's something is water. The water in quicksand separates the individual particles and reduced friction. Sometimes quicksand can forms without any water like an earthquake. An earthquake can shift the ground such a way that reduces the friction between grains of dirt or sand.

How to escape? With quicksand the more you struggle the faster you sink. To move within the quicksand you must apply enough pressure on the compacted sand to bring enough water to liquify it. So if you relax, your body will float on it because your body is less dense than the quicksand. The human body has a density of 62.4 pounds per cubic foot which means you can easily float more easily on quicksand than on the water. The problem is that quicksand traps people. A motion will loosen the grains of sand and reduce friction.

Oobleck (cornstarch mixed with water)
Quicksand is a non-newtonian fluid. It's viscosity changes based on how much force is being applied and what speed the force is applied. This is why quicksand is difficult to escape. Unfortunately, cornstarch in water is very similar to quicksand. Because they are both oobleck and quicksand change viscosities based on the amount of stress that is being applied to the substance. At times they act like a solid and other time they act liquid. Oobleck and quicksand have another similarity because they can both trap people.

Non-newtonian fluid
Oobleck and quicksand are both non-newtonian fluids (a fluid that does not follow Newton's law of viscosity).  This means that how they behave changes based on how much stress is being applied. When there are a lot of stress non-newtonian fluids will become viscous and resemble a solid. When a non-newtonian fluid is under very little stress it will often have less viscosity and act more like a fluid. This is why you can roll the oobleck and turn it into a ball but when you release it, it appears to melt. This is also why it's difficult to escape quicksand because the faster you move the more quicksand will act like a solid.

HomeEc- Culture

Sept. 18, 2019
This term we have been looking at a cultural unit about foods that were originally made from different countries. So far I have learned how different cultures have influence here in New Zealand. I know I learnt this because we have discussed this here in school. The practicals we have made this term are sushi, fish n chips, pizza, scones, pad thai and souvlaki. They are originally from in Japan, Greece, Italy, Thailand, and Britain but they are made in New Zealand by immigrants. Skills I have learned from the practicals are cooking foods by sizzling, marinated, slicing, etc. and I will use these in the future by creating this recipe with my family. Working with other people in my group has been excited, fun and helped me to learn to work with other people.

Screen Printing- Textiles

In textiles, we are learning how to create our own printed fabric which represents our Identity. I got failed on my first try because I only put some little bit of paint which is bad because if you drag it with a squeegee it will look bad, so I would recommend you to put some lot of paint ( not too much ).
( not my work )

Screen printing is a method in which ink is applied to the surface to be printed to a very fine fabric.
Method:
*First, you need to draw an image unto your card
* Cut your image carefully with a crafting knife
* Then we layer the stencil and the screen on the fabric.
* Put some paint on the screen and carefully drag it with a squeegee.

Stone age paintings

The cave paintings were the first painting in the history. Stone ages people decorated walls of proteted caves with paint made from dirt, charcoal mixed or animal blood. Maybe they wanted to decorate the cave and chose animals because they were important to their existence.
This is my art work, my art work is showing about ancient people paint their  hands in the caves so that people in the future could see about their history.

How does anti-gravity water work?

Aim: I'm gonna make anti-gravity water trick
Equipment: You need water, a glass, and a cloth or handkerchief.
Method:
1.)Place the cloth over the glass
2.) Use your hand to push a depression into the fabric so you can more easily fill the glass and also helps wet material.
3.) fill the glass about three-quarters full of water.
4.) Pull the fabric tightly over the glass.
5.) Quickly flip the glass, using a hand to hold the fabric tight. Alternatively, you can put one hand over the top of the glass, while using the other to hold the material tight and slowly invert the glass.
Pull the hand over the glass away.

Observation: The water didn't go through

Discussion:
Anti-gravity is creating a place or object that is free from the force of gravity. It does not refer to the lack of weight under gravity experienced in free fall or to balancing the force of gravity with some other force such as electromagnetism or aerodynamic force. Electromagnetism is an interaction of electric currents or fields and magnetic fields. Aerodynamic force is the force exerted on a body by the air which the body is immersed and is due to the relative motion between the body and the gas, an example of an aerodynamic force is an aeroplane.
How this anti-gravity trick works?
In this trick, water has high surface tension. The water molecules absorbed into the fabric hold onto other water molecules inside the water glass. Even though there are gaps in the fabric, the attraction between water molecules overcome the force of the gravity trying to pull the water down. Surface tension is the tendency of the fluid surfaces to shrink into the minimum surface area possible that allows insects, usually denser than water to float and slide on a water surface.
Examples of surface tension
* The rounded shape of water droplets on a surface is due to surface tension
* Oil and water separate because of the tension between two dissimilar liquids. In this case, "interface tension" but it is simply a type of surface tension between two liquids.
* Surface allows some insects and other small animals which are denser than water, to across the surface without sinking like a water strider, mosquitos, and dragonflies.

How the surface tension works? At the interface between liquid and atmosphere (air), the liquid is more attracted to each other than they are to the air molecules. In other words, the force of cohesion (a measure of how well molecules stick to each other group or group together, also means stick or stay together) is greater than force adhesion. Because the two forces are not in balance, the surface may be considered to be under tension as if it's like enclose by an elastic membrane ( hence term of surface tension ). The effect of cohesion versus adhesion is that there's an inward force at the surface layer. This is because the top layer of a molecule is not surrounded by liquid.
The surface tension is also like capillary action, capillary action is an ability of a liquid to flow in narrow spaces without the assistance like liquid rising inside a straw, paper towel absorbing water, and sponge.

↓↓↓↓VIDEO↓↓↓↓↓
Anti-gravity trick

Evaluation:
During the experiment, I made a mistake because I didn't hold the fabric tight then the container slips in my hand cuz the container is kinda bigger than my hands and also use a handkerchief so you can easily see the water in the container/glass. I am proud of what I did in my experiment it was fun doing it and it only takes 5 mins to do it. If I want to learn more about anti-gravity I would do a research about the anti-gravity wheel and how does it work.

The plastic bags should be banned. The reason why we should ban plastic bags is that plastic-like chlorinated plastic which can seep into seawater can cause serious harm to the marine species. How can we solve the problems of plastic? Instead of a plastic bag, use a reusable one, Skip straws and use a metal one, and recycle what you can.

A researcher in the Loma Linda University of Health found that almost reusable bags contain bacteria that make us sick. So being environmentally friendly with a reusable bag, you're increasing the chance of bacteria from the grocery store to your home. Unlike made from plastic or polypropylene use washable bags like cotton, silk and canvas.

Making a Metal Oxide

Aim: To make a metal oxide and observe the difference in properties of the product compared to the reactants.
Equipment: A piece of magnesium, bunsen burner, safety glasses, and metal scissor tongs.
Method:
1.) Light your Bunsen burner
2.) Hold your piece of magnesium in the scissor tongs. Ensure you are holding onto the very tip of the magnesium.
3.) Place the other end of the magnesium into the Bunsen flame (at the top of the blue flame).

Observation: It burns with very bright light.

Facts about Magnesium Oxide
*It's chemical formula is MgO
* Magnesium oxide is used by libraries to make books last longer.
* It is used for the insulator for some electrical wires.

 Discussion:
Magnesium is a silvery-white and light-weight metal and chemical element that has a symbol 'Mg' and atomic number 12.
Oxygen is a colourless, odourless reactive gas chemical element that has a symbol 'O' and atomic number 8. It is also used for respiration process.

Magnesium is a metal form that easily gets burn in the air. When the magnesium burns it reacts with oxygen found in the air to form magnesium oxide. Oxygen and Magnesium are needed to combine to make this compound. When it burns, it forms a white ashes magnesium oxide. The magnesium gives up 2 electrons and Oxygen gains two electrons to make this compound. How can an atom become positively or negatively charged? If extra electrons are added to an atom, it will become negatively charged. If electrons are removed from an atom, it will become positively charged this is called combination.

       Balance equation
Mg+O2→Mg
      2Mg+ O2→2MgO

Evaluation:
During the experiment, When the magnesium begins to burn, do not directly at it. Because when it's burning the light emitted can permanently damage your eyes, Also it produces ultra-violet (UV) light which can damage your eyes if you stare at it for too long so if you do this experiment be aware to not look directly in the light.

Duty over self/Choose your duty over yourself- English Essay

Duties are the reason which requires something important or a task that must fulfil. In the book of Children of Blood and Bones by Tomi Adeyemi, Inan chooses duty over himself, he chooses to destroy magic than saving magic and his love. The chapter that I'm gonna write about is chapter 36, 9 and 85. Tomi Adeyemi wrote this book so that readers can understand that we need to make our decisions carefully.

In Chapter 36, before Inan and Zelie battle, Amari tries to convince Inan to make his choices. Inan ordered by his father That his duty is to keep the Orisha alive rather than bringing the magic back. When we have this problem we need to believe that we must make a similar choice between our duty or ourselves. In Chapter 36-Zelie, Amari told Inan "Those are father's words, Inan. His decision, not yours. We are on our own people. " meaning that we need to make our own decision, not theirs so that Inan can understand his situation. The Author wrote this chapter so that people can understand that we need to choose our own decision, not theirs.

In Chapter 9, when Zelie tries to fight back for the Orisha, a small thought of whispers in her head told her that she doesn't have to continue her duty to fight for the Orisha but in the end, they save the magic and the Orisha. In Zelie's quote " I hold onto the words for a moment, grasping my only chance to escape. But when my lungs wheeze, I force to kick, bringing me back my broken world I know". Tomi wrote this chapter so the reader can understand that no matter how much we crave peace, we still need to stand up even though it's difficult.

In Chapter 85, when Zelie meet Baba in another world, Zelie doesn't want to go back to the real world because she can't survive the pain in the real world. "Zel orisha still needs you". Baba told Zelie that Orisha still needs her help. In real life, sometimes we need to leave our loved ones because of our duty. For example, our parents, they tried hard so we can achieve our dreams, feed us and take care of us. In this scene, the writer wrote this chapter so that people can understand that sometimes we have to choose duty instead of our loved ones so that we can take care of them.

The Children of Blood and Bones is an interesting story because it has a lot of moral lessons. Inan and Zelie have different choices. Inan shows that he chooses to destroy the magic and Zelie chooses to save the magic. The Children of Blood and Bones story helps the readers to understand and what to do if they have a situation like this.

What if you fell into acid?

What happens if you fell into acid?
Acid is a molecule/chemical that donates a proton or hydrogen ion into water. Acid is one of the most unforgiving substances it eats away at everything we are made of and can destroy our bodies in gross ways. A 'concentrated acid' reacts with no water to heat it, so when acid comes in to contact with your skin it, it immediately burns your skin as 60% of our body is water. Acid can make you also blind when it contacts your eyes. 'Nitric acid' is a strong acid and a powerful oxidizing agent which can cause a chemical burn as it decomposes your muscle. An oxidizing agent is a substance that has the ability to oxidize the other substances. Anyway, nitric acid is also used for making plastic, fertilizers, and in the manufacturing dyes. "Sulfuric acid is also commonly found in industrial or agricultural sites and for manufacturing copper and zinc.

In 2012, a construction worker Martin Davis fell through a roof into a vat of acid using for cleaning steel. He was pulled out by his co-worker, undressed and sprayed with water. The tank of acid that Davis landed is contained 40%-70% of nitric acid. Davis's skin was burnt and his body was bright red. And in 2007, Fernando Gonzalez drowned in the vat of sulfuric acid. He fell forward into a waist-high vat of it. He was wearing protection but it wasn't enough to save him.

Nature can be also a place to find dangerous acid springs like Norris Geyser hot spring known as the largest active geysers in the world. Colin Nathaniel Scott and his sister were visiting in the park and he fell into the hot spring. His sister called the forest rangers for help but they were unable to go into the spring because of the harsh conditions.

We have seen that acid burns the skin, it can make us blind and even dissolve our body and falling into a vat of acid or in the spring can be extremely serious consequences.

What to do when the acid contacts your skin.
If you spill acid on your skin, immediately wash well with water, do not attempt to neutralize a spill on your skin.

Neutralisation
our mouths contain bacteria. These bacteria can change the sugar left on our teeth into acids. This acids then dissolved our teeth and it can cause tooth decay. If we brush our teeth with toothpaste, the toothpaste will neutralise the acids produced by the bacteria in our mouth. The toothpaste contained fluoride, sodium lauryl sulfate, and sugar. The average pH level of the toothpaste is 9.

Sphero project

In DTE we were given a project of making our own game by writing a program using Sphero Edu. While making a game, we use a tutorial to guide us to learn how to program.

I decided to design a game Truth or Dare. This game is like Hot Potato, the player who catches the shaking sphero will be asked a question from your friends.

Instruction
Step 1: gather some friends in a circle
Step 2: Start the program
Step 3: Toss the sphero to your friends
Step 4: The player who catches the shaking sphero will be the one to ask Truth or Dare.

Building a game/variable

Building a game/variable

1.)Go to variables and drag the set block into the loop forever and choose expire, now go to operators and drag random integer operator into the right side of the set block, notice there are two types of random operators int or integer means it will be a whole number, if you picked float the result could be a number with a decimal like 4.5. Using an integer here keeps your logic simpler but you will use float values in future activities.

2.) So now let’s make it so that it takes between three and ten tosses to expire. This is suitable for about 3 players to play the game. Each player needs to catch it once before the game expires. If you want to play more than 3 players, you need to increase the minimum and the maximum values accordingly.
3.)Go to controls and drag the loop until block and nest it in the loop forever just below the set expire block.
4.)Now go to operators and drag the basic comparator block of the loop until the command and select greater than. Then go to variables and drag the toss variables to the left side of the statement and then the expire variable to the right.
5.) Now write a code comment on this block ( Loop until the toss variable is greater than the expire variable, then call the blocks within).

6.) Now go to the lights and sounds category and drag the main LED and change it to RED.
7.) Now go to movements and drag a raw motor block below. Keep the left motor 0 sets and set the right motor to 255 and the duration to 0.1 seconds.

Next step
  1. Go to controls and nest the “If-Then” block to the loop in the ‘loop until’. Now go to comparators drag the basic comparator and place it in the true field, set it to greater than. Next, go to sensors and drag the accelerometer into the left side of the operation and select the total access. Change it to 0 on the right side to three.
  2. Now add a place sound block and the game abrupt sound and set it to continue, also add the strobe block to add a quick flash of light and set the colour to green and the period to 0.2 sec and count to 1. Go to variables and grab a set block and choose toss.
  3. Now drag a basic operator to the right beside block and change it to edition. Now you can drag the toss variable to the lift of the plus line. Change the 0 to 1
  4. Go to controls and drag a delay block and place it after the loop until block and set it to 1 sec. Now go to light and sounds and drag a sound block and choose a game you lose sound and set it to continue. Now place the main LED block and change it to orange
  5. Go to movements and drag the raw motor block and set both the left and the right motor power to 255 and the duration to 2 sec. Go to controls and drag the delay block and set it to 1 sec. And drag a speak block and right you lose. Go to variables and drag the set block and set it to toss.

What have I learned?
I learned how to write a program to make a game.
Did I enjoy making this?
To be honest, no, because I'm not good at making like these things and also I ran out of time by making this project.
What did you try hard for this project?
Thinking what game should I make.

What is Helium?

Aim: I'm gonna draw Helium atoms
Equipment: Marker ( Blue, Yellow, Purple, Black ) and a paper

Method:
1.) First, make a Neutrons and Protons using a yellow and blue marker ( yellow for Neutrons and blue for protons).
2.) make the first shell using the purple marker
3.) Then draw two electrons in the first shell using a black
marker
4.) Done

Discussion:
What is Helium?
Helium is classified as an element in the 'Noble Gases' section which can be located in a group of the Periodic Table. The term 'Noble Gases' derives from the Old High German word Edelgas from 'edili'  meaning 'noble'. The name 'noble gases' is an allusion to the old, similarly termed 'Noble Metals'. The Noble Metals included gold, silver, and platinum which were so-called due to their long association with the aristocracy.

It's a colourless, odourless gaseous element in natural gas with radioactive ores. It is used as a component of artificial atmospheres and laser media, lifting gas for balloons and as a refrigerant. Helium was the first gas used for filling balloon and dirigibles. The atomic number of this element is 2 and the element symbol is 'He'.

The Discovery and History of the Helium
Helium was first detected during Solar Eclipse in 1868 as a bright yellow line in the spectrum of the chromosphere of the Sun ('sphere of colour' the second of the three layers in the Sun) by French astronomer Pierre Janssen. It was discovered by Sir William Ramsey in 1895. Norman Lockyer and Edward Frankland named the Element.

Electrons and Orbits
The electrons like to be separate shells/orbitals. The shells/orbits is a path of an electron around the nucleus of an atom. The shells/orbit number 1 can only hold 2 atoms, shell/orbit number 2 can hold 8, and for the first 18 elements shell, three can hold 8 electrons.So... for the Element of Helium, there are only 2 electrons in Helium atom. By looking at the picture, you can see there are 2 electrons in the shell/orbit. That means the first shell is full.

Fun facts about Helium
* USA is the worlds largest supplier of Helium
*Helium is more flammable than Hydrogen
*Helium is the most common element in the universe
*The name of Helium comes from Helius ( The Greek Sun God)
*Inhaling Helium makes your voice higher because it has less dense than air.

Here is my complete work, next time I should make something more creative. I am proud of what I did but I should've to use whiteboard marker instead of a normal marker so I can't waste some papers. If you want to draw Helium atoms, I would recommend you to use a bowl or a cup because it's much easier to make a perfect circle. I also recommend you to use whiteboard instead of papers because you can easily erase it instead of wasting the paper. I enjoyed drawing Helium atoms because it's easy and it only takes 3-4 min to make. If I want to learn more about Helium I gonna research about what is the difference between oxygen and Helium.

What am I learning?
I learned what is Helium and the history of it.
What am I wondering?
I'm wondering if there's helium in space
How does this show my work?
To show me what does Helium atom look like and how to draw Helium atoms.

The Killer

In the 1870s, Cole's town is getting worse because of the disease, food, and water. His family wanted to live in a place where there's a lot of food and clean water so his family decided to go to London. Cole has 3 brothers, Armad, Damien and Bram. His brothers are nice and caring. When they arrived at their house his parents told him and his brothers to clean their house because they're gonna buy some supplies for their garden but Cole doesn't want to stay. 'Guys let's play a game in my room' Damien giggled. So they went to his room to play a game except him so my parents won't be mad.

It's late at night, Cole looks in the window in the backyard if his parents are home, he notices a man standing out in the snow smiling at him. He gulps, he looks down doing nothing because he's too nervous to call his brothers. He looks back at the window again, he notices that he as much as closer to him now with a knife. He fell down in shock. He went to his brothers and told them there's a man outside the house with a knife. "Let's go hide in the basement until our parents come home" Bram panicked. Suddenly, someone knocked on the door. Damien grabs a pocket knife and opens the door. "Mom, Dad" he shocked. "Kids, there's a murderer on the loose". Good thing they brought food and water, Cole told them what's going on then their dad told them.

There's a psychopath in the town. He was cared for by his protective adoptive parents. Despite being so bright, he was known for partaking in criminal behaviour, he was arrested at the age of 13. After Albright received a gun, he uses it to kill small animals. After failing to complete med training,  he would be sent to jail for theft, abuse of a person, and being a murderer. He shot victims in the head and removed their eyes with surgical-like precision. "No one hasn't seen him even the police officers," Dad said. Everyone got shocked when they heard the story. They decided to live in a safe place like New Zealand. They immediately pack their things and leave the place. Before they leave, Cole saw the man again standing behind the tree smiling with a knife. It's like the man knows where they're going. They hop on to their horse carriage and Cole told his Dad to go to the port fast. His Dad noticed they were being followed by the man. He's thinking rationally to safely get out of their situation for his family. They went to an area with a lot of people so that the man will be able to lose them. They look behind and they noticed that they are not being followed anymore. When they arrived at the port, they immediately entered the ship. Before they entered, they checked one last time if the man is still following them.  " At last, we're safe now" Bram sighed with relief.

When they arrived in New Zealand, a lot of people welcoming them on the ship. They realized that an amazing country with beautiful landscape, the crime rates are low and the best place to live.

Model of a Lung

Aim: I want to create a model of a lung

Equipment: Plastic cup, straw, balloon, an elastic band or hair tie. This is all the list need to make a model of a lung.

Method:
1.)make a hole at the cup's bottom
2.)Put the balloon on the 2 straw
3.) Then put it inside the cup and out the sprout of the cup
4.) Take another balloon and cut the top of it off
5.) Then put this balloon on the bottom of the cup so that it covers the opening.
6.) Apply elastic band or something that will keep the air from going inside through the cup (to me I would recommend you to use hot glue )
7.)To work the model, pull the bottom balloon. You can see the lungs grow bigger, this is how your lungs work.

Discussion:
What are the Lungs?
is a pair of organs situated within the ribcage. The ribcage protect your lungs and your heart, your ribs also move when you breathe in and out. The left lung is smaller than the right lung because it has to make a room for your heart. Below your lungs are the diaphragm, the diaphragm is a muscle that works with your lungs to breathe in and out.

What do lungs do?
Air wooshes to your nose and mouth through your trachea and divides into left and a right tube called bronchi which connect to the lungs. Within the lungs, the bronchi branch into smaller bronchi and even smaller tubes called bronchioles which are as thin as a strand of hair, end in tiny air sacs called alveoli. The air you breathe in fills these sacks, causing the lungs to inflate, at this point the capillaries are packed with carbon dioxide, and air sacks are full of oxygen. In the process called diffusion, each gas wants to move a place where there's a lower of their kind so the oxygen crosses over the capillaries the hemoglobin grabs it up while carbon dioxide is unloaded into the lungs, hemoglobin is a protein inside the red blood cells that carries oxygen to cells and carbon dioxide. Then the oxygen is transported throughout the body and then we exhaled the carbon dioxide causing our diaphragm to relax and the volume of the lungs gets smaller.

The process of diffusion
the molecules of each gas want to move to a place where there's a lower
of their kind. So oxygen cross over to the capillaries, the hemoglobin grab
it's up while the carbon dioxide is unloaded into the lungs. The oxygen-rich to the hemoglobin
is then transported throughout the body via the bloodstream and then we exhale the carbon dioxide.

Fun facts about Lungs
1.) Lungs can float on the water
2.) Lungs aren't the same size
3.) Lungs and tennis court can be the same size
4.) An average person can breathe in 11,000 litres of air a day
5.) Without mucus, your lungs will dry up

Evaluation:
This is my complete Lung model, I am proud of what I did, but next time I'm gonna use strong equipment that can support my model. I should've used hot glue for the straw because the straw wouldn't let in the right position. If you were to create my model I would recommend you to use a plastic bottle because it's much stronger than the plastic cup, use a hot glue gun instead of a rubber band or hair tie and I would recommend fixing the mistakes I made. I enjoyed making this model and it only takes 20-30 minutes to finish. If I want to learn more about the Lungs, I want to extract from the Pig and investigate it.

What am I learning?
I learned how to make a model of a Lung and how does lung work
I am wondering?
I'm wondering if you can drown inside and out.

English Essay

A character who changed in the Zootopia is Nick when he meets Judy in the Zootopia. Nick changed from bad to good because when chief Bogo ask Judy for a badge Nick stands up for Judy because Judy saves his life.

Nick began as a Junior Ranger scout even he was the only predator in the troop but he got bullied by his troops. This is because when Nick promised to be brave, Loyal, helpful, and trustworthy to his troops. Nick told Judy that he learned two things that day that he was never gonna let everyone see that they got to him and if the world's only gonna see a fox and shifty and untrustworthy. Judy said " Nick, you are so much more than that", this helps the audience to realize when someone is having a hard time, there's one friend that can help you solve your life problem.

In the middle of the film where Judy was answering questions to the reporters and Nick is being irrational after Judy's speech. This is because Judy said to the reporters that predators may go back to their savage ways. We can see that Nick is upset and confused, she asked Judy if she's afraid of him or does she thinks he might go nuts. I think, in this scene, we know that Judy has a right to be protective but we also have to think before we speak to others so that they can understand.

At the end of the film, Judy and Nick solve the case and Nick became a part of ZPD. This is because of not giving up and how we should understand each other. Judy made a speech said, " real life is messy, we all make mistakes, and the more we understand one another, the more exceptional into us will be".  I think the director wanted us to understand that we should not give up our hopes and we should try to make our world a better place.

Nick was different at first but he changed when she meets Judy. They help each other to reach their goal and solves their problems. I think the creators made this movie that everyone is represented as both predators and preys that shows not everyone is what you think what they are.

DTE- How has tech changed the way you communicate

In this lesson, we create an infographic about ergonomics, we explore a web-based game called Interland, and in our last lesson did Digital bytes.

ergonomic is a process of designing and or optimized them for human use. It improves workspaces and environments to minimise the risks of injuries.

What I learned about Inter land is that they provide cybersafety education and awareness for children, for young people and also parents.

The last thing we did is digital bytes, first, we choose some media to engage with and then we answer the questions in our google doc. The digital bytes is about how you can explore and influence the world we live in.

Science-Genetically modified animal

Aim: making a GMO animal example using a clay

What is GMO?
A GMO or genetically modified organism is a plant, animal, microorganism or other organisms whose genetic makeup has been modified in a laboratory using genetic engineering or transgenic technology.  Genetically modified animals are animals that are genetically modified for a specific variation of purposes including drugs, enhancing field, increase resistance to disease and etc.

Processing
The process of genetically engineered animal or plant is a slow, boring time consuming, and expensive process. First, genetic engineers must to set apart or cut off the gene they want to insert it to the organism. This can be taken from cell, gene, or Artificial genes synthesis known as DNA printing (a method that is used to create artificial genes in the laboratory). If the gene or the donor organism genome(the genetic material of the organism) has been studied it will be may accessible from a genetic library. The genetic library is a collection of DNA fragments that are stored and breed specimens of a plant or animal. There are two types of genetic library, cDNA library and Genomic library.

cDNA library represents a collection of only the only genes that are encoded or convert into proteins by an organism. A Genomic library is a collection is a set of DNA clones that contains the entire DNA content of a genome fro which library was obtained or received.

Then the gene is then combined with other gene elements like promoter, terminator and selectable marker. The promoter is a sequence of DNA needed to turn a gene on or off. Terminator is a genetic part that usually occurs at the end of the gene and causes transcription(first several steps in gene expression) to stop. A selectable marker is a gene introduced into a cell that confers a trait suitable for selective breeding.

Equipment: Clay (any colours)
Method of making a glofish out of clay
1. Get clay.
2. Shaping the clay into an animal
3. Do detail on the clay model.
4. Leave the clay model to dry.
5. Done.

Here is an example of a GMO animal called GlowFish. GloFish is a patented brand of genetically modified zebrafish with bright fluorescent colours, it was created to show of presence of toxins in the water and it was the first genetically modified animal.

GMO is the result of the process from the GMO of one species that is extracted and forced into a gene of an unrelated plant or animal. The example of a GMO animal is GloFish, a scientist split a gene from a jellyfish and add it to a fish DNA to make it Glow. DNA is a  The reason why they are doing this because they were trying to develop a fish that could detect pollution.

Evaluation:
Here is my completed work. I am proud of my work but I think I should make it more pretty or creative. If you want to make a model of an animal using clay, I would recommend you to use a wire to make it more stand out. I would also recommend you to use colourful clay and sculpt it using scissors. If I want to learn more about the Genetically modified organism, I'm gonna research about more GMO like plants.

Health

Why is the value important to you?
value is important because it helps us to grow and develop also it guide our actions and help us gain influence among those people we love and respect.

What could you start doing to better support this value?
I should find ways to help out with my personal issues and I will make sure what I'm doing is right.

We have been learning about spiritual well-being, values, relationships, culture and our personal identity. This is really important to me because it helps me to know who I really am, it also helps to grow and develop our learning and about my issues. In our culture, we celebrate Christmas and lots of festivals, we also celebrate birthdays and new years. I have been also learning about personal Identity it helps me to bring comfort and security.

Human Rights

Born free-  because all humanity is equally and born with the highest of value.
Right to free elections- because everyone has the right to elect the government, without this right there are no free and fair elections.
Religion and belief- because of it, it supports the individual or community to manifest religion and belief.
Right to an Education- because the right to education requires is guaranteed to people and without any discrimination and it builds up our knowledge, values and proficiency of human rights.
